Fairmont Pledges Commitment to Reducing Restrictive Practices

Fairmont Residential is proud to announce that our pledge to eliminate the unnecessary use of restrictive practices has been approved, and we are now members of the Restraint Reduction Network.

By making this pledge, we are reinforcing our commitment to eliminate unnecessary and harmful restrictive practices, promoting positive behaviour support, and upholding the human rights, dignity, and wellbeing of the people we support.

As part of the application process, we completed a detailed action plan identifying: our current strengths and areas of good practice, our priorities for improvement, and the actions we will take to further eliminate unnecessary restrictive practices across our services.

Our action plan is based on the six core strategy© areas of the Restraint Reduction Network programme:

  • Strategy 1: Leadership and governance
  • Strategy 2: Using data to inform practice
  • Strategy 3: Staff training and development
  • Strategy 4: Preventative approaches and personalised support
  • Strategy 5: Involving people who receive our services
  • Strategy 6: Continuous learning through reflection, post-incident support, and post-incident review

We have also identified our three key priority actions for the next two years, which are available to view on the Restraint Reduction Network website using the link below.
