Goals That Inspire Growth

Goal setting plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for the individuals we support at Fairmont. By setting and working toward meaningful, personal goals, individuals gain a stronger sense of purpose, enjoyment, and control over their lives.

Our approach is fully person-centred and tailored to each individual’s needs, preferences, and aspirations. People are actively involved in identifying and shaping their goals, whether they relate to hobbies, social engagement, health and wellbeing, independence, or personal development.

At one Fairmont home, we supported an individual who previously struggled with transitions, especially leaving the house on foot. Moving from a rural school environment, they found such changes extremely difficult. By building trust and using structured TEACCH principles, we helped them break activities down into manageable steps and focus on the end goal. As a result, they are now able to confidently access their local community and participate more fully in daily life.

Another individual set a personal goal of going on holiday. They initiated this by asking staff and picking out brochures. They were involved in every step of the planning and had a fantastic experience away, one they’re keen to repeat.

Across all Fairmont homes, promoting independence is a shared goal. We empower each person to achieve meaningful outcomes and take an active role in their own life and home.
